Imagine if your wedding site looked like this

So the crazy weather that hit the Greater Sacramento area last week was really cool if you enjoy a little low snow in places that you are not used to seeing it. When my father called me and told me there was 6 inches of snow on the ground at his home in the Cameron Park area, I had to make a drive up to one of my favorite places to DJ events at, and one of the locations that Music & More Entertainment is a preferred vendor- Serrano Country Club

How cool was it to see kids trying to snowboard and sled on the 1st fairway on the golf course. Here are some pictures i took. It's crazy to think of the many days I have spent with a sound system set up right where this snow is for a wedding ceremony.

Here is a look at the snow covering the tables on the terrace overlooking the ceremony site.

This is the ceremony site from the outside patio. Folsom Lake is to the left and the rolling foothills and gold country are to the right. Nevermind... all you can see is snow....

This is the front of Serrano Country Club about 4 hours after the snow stopped falling. Very cool sight! No doubt!

A look from the side of the club. This is the lawn in the front of the club... snow is about 4-5 inches thick here.

So after a walk around Serrano in the 28 degree temperature, we drove up Highway 50 a little higher just for fun. Here is what happens in Placerville if you stay outside too long in a snowstorm... We definately turned around just to come back and take a picture of these "guys".

Ok, i hope you enoyed a couple of fun pictures. There are more on my facebook page.

Ah... time for rest... and booking!

I love this time of the year for many reasons. The start to ski season, Kings basketball season, Football is in full swing, a slower time of the year for wedding season, and of course.... the booking season for next year...

It was a great wedding season this year and I'm going to go back and post some fun blogs from recent weddings in the coming weeks. But it's full steam ahead for 2010. So far, its looking busier that ever. I have had a fairly steady string of calls in the last two weeks and several consultations. I think the 2009 wedding slowdown might be over!!!

I'm often asked the question, how far out should we book a DJ/MC for our event. Most Wedding Coordinators, web sites, and magazines say it's somewhere between 5 months and 9 months out. However, the real answer does vary depending on who you are considering.

My answer is always the same. If you meet with someone that fits your idea of what you are
looking for, and he or she is a sole operator, book them as soon as possible, perhaps even on the spot. Trust your first impression. Trust the references you are given. Most importantly, trust that sixth sense that often helps you make a good decision on something so important. If you are not sure and want to see what someone else has to offer go ahead and meet with the other DJ/MC. Just remember that you are not guaranteed that your DJ/MC will be available when you finally make a decision.

If you are not picky as to your exact DJ/MC and are planning on choosing from a company, its a little different. You may be able to find a company that sells you on the DJ/MC that you are looking for within a few months. But again, if you find a company that you trust and have good references from, don't delay.

With Music and More Entertainment, it is not out of the ordinary to book over a year in advance. Most of my clients on the most popular Saturdays book around 8-9 months out. However, there are many instances that i have a day open just a few weeks out. Especially in 2009, the year of last minute bookings.

So bottom line... if you find someone you like, get them locked in. There is nothing worse than the feeling that you let the good one get away. Call us today at 916.601.4107 and get on the books for an exciting 2010 wedding and event season. You won't be disappointed!

A first for me...

Finally, time to breathe a little bit! September was the 2nd busiest month I have had in the 14 plus years I've DJ'ed. Followed that up with an October that was pretty busy also. Now it's time for me to get back to basics. New logo and design, new marketing materials, a website (Mike Jensen, Kendra Pfeiffer and others, you're welcome... ) getting back to AFWPI and all the other wedding professional events, etc.

I've been blessed to be a part of over 1,000 events in my life as a DJ/MC, and even more fortunate to do it without a website, blog, or extensive marketing. I always have believed that the difference between the good pro's and the GREAT pro's is the connections they make with the professionals they work with and the impressions they leave on every guest at the event we work. The word of mouth referral and vendor referrals have been a major factor in my successful business.

But complacency kills... and I'm not going to let it sneak up on me. So.... The website is under construction and should be up in mid- November. The new logo and such to come even earlier.

For the time being, I am going to start blogging when possible and as I get pictures from events I work. In the meantime, talk soon....
